Dear Friend.

To night finds’ me pening

you a few lines, in reply to yours

of the fifth inst. which was

gladly received and read with

much pleasure. I had given up
line

the idea that any of you would

write, but still I was anxious

to hear from you. I would

have asked you in particular

to write had I not thought

you would have scorned

the idea. Be as it is I hope you

will continue in your good works

I am sorter shamed to write

to any one on account of my Ignorance,

but perhaps you can make out

some of what I am trying to

write, you being a good scholar,

or teacher. I fear this will not

be a very long letter as there is

no news much to tell. It is getting

quite late and I am lazy. Martin

has retired for the night, he came

home a day or two after you left

I went down to the River with

the mail to day. M. A. Bunker is

packing it for Edward now.

I tied up my head the day

you folks left, and had it

bundled up untill the day after

New-Years so you see I had a
nice time. I expect to have my 
holidays now am going over on 
the desert to hawl some grain to 
the Canyon. Hary is at the Canyon
now hawling Ore. George has not
Page 3 arived yet. It has been a long
day to day I was up about five
oclock this morning and it is now 
after leven. Such as this Im fraid 
will be of no use, Or intrest to you 
So will close fore to night hoping to
hear from you soon. Should you
write please address at the Canyon.
