Biographical / Historical Note

Founded in 1984 by Rob Schlegel, the Las Vegas Bugle newspaper focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues (LGBT) in southern Nevada. During the 1980s and 1990s, the newspaper covered national LGBT issues, such as military policies towards gays and the Defense of Marriage Act, as well as local developments, including the founding of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada and the Nevada chapter of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (P-FLAG - now known only by the acronym PFLAG). After 2002, the Las Vegas Bugle was incorporated into other LGBT publications, such as the Las Vegas Night Beat and QVegas.
