Abstract

The John B. DuBois Papers (1967-2012) contain legislative bills, reviews, and requests from his time as a Nevada State Assemblyman from Clark County. Also included are newspaper clippings, campaign material, contribution letters, and election results. There are Datagraphic Research, Inc. Opinion Polls conducted and written by his wife Judith DuBois, photographs, speeches, and a manuscript for a stage play adopted from a novel written by John DuBois.

The John B. DuBois Papers (1967-2012) contain legislative bills, reviews, and requests from his time as a Nevada State Assemblyman from Clark County. Also included are newspaper clippings, campaign material, contribution letters, and election results. There are Datagraphic Research, Inc. Opinion Polls conducted and written by his wife Judith DuBois, photographs, and speeches given by John DuBois during his campaigns and from the floor of the legislature. A synopsis and chapter notes from a novel written by John DuBois titled Fatal Obsession and a manuscript for a stage play adopted from a novel also written by John DuBois titled Kill the Truth, Save the Crown are also in the collection.

Biographical / Historical Note

Republican Assemblyman from Clark County, Nevada John B. DuBois was born in West Point, New York on November 28, 1921. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in journalism and did his graduate work in marketing and communications at the University of Southern California. After moving to Las Vegas he was the director of Corporate Communications for Southwest Gas Corporation from 1964 to 1976.

DuBois entered politics in 1980 by running successfully for the Nevada Assembly where he served from 1981 to 1989, which included five regular sessions and one special session. He is a former University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) instructor, listed in Who's Who in Public Relations, and the author of two books and many articles in national publications.
