Abstract
The League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley, Nevada (LWVLVV) Records (1957-2021) contain meeting minutes, financial reports, correspondence, audiovisual material, photographs, and newsletters. Also included are materials on political issues, school integration, and environmental pollution issues in Southern Nevada.

Scope and Contents Note
The League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley (LWVLVV) Records contain the records and publications of the League during its establishment and existence from 1957 to 2021. Margaret Quinn, a member of the LWVLVV beginning in 1964, Director of Membership from 1979 to 1981, and President from 1981 to 1985, donated a portion of this collection. Materials include annual reports, LWVLVV bylaws, membership lists, and treasurer reports. The most extensive material in the collection are related to political issues including abortion, school integration, and environmental pollution issues in Southern Nevada. The collection also contains LWVLVV political campaign questionnaires, publications, audiovisual materials, scrapbooks, and awards received from the community. Later accessions include copies of LWVLVV newsletters and materials Margaret Quinn collected during her time as a member and leader of the League. Some audiovisual materials have been digitized and are available as digital files.

Biographical / Historical Note
Founded in 1964 as an extension of the League of Women Voters (LWV), the League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley, Nevada (LWVLVV) formed to monitor government activity and impact public policy through education and advocacy. The first official meeting occurred on May 7, 1964 and established the reach of the organization and the LWVLVV bylaws. By November of 1964, seventy-one members comprised the LWVLVV and included prominent Las Vegas figures, Flora Dungan and Jean Ford. In May of 1965, the LWV recognized the LWVLVV as an official LWV entity. The LWVLVV officially changed its name to the League of Women Voters of Southern Nevada (LWVSN) in 2017. The LWVSN was formally dissolved in December 2021.

Acquisition Note
Materials were received periodically from 1975 to 2022; accession numbers MS24, 85-36, 85-87, 94-43, 87-43, 75-346. Materials were donated in 2021 and 2022 by Denise Gerdes, Carmel Viado, and Jan Biggerstaff; accession numbers 2021-125, 2022-019, and 2022-036.
Processing Note
In May 1995, material was processed by Dona Gearhart and Cathleen Loucks. In June 2007, Dana Miller added descriptive information. In 2017, Joyce Moore added two accessions and updated the collection description to meet current archival standards. In 2020, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Ryan DiPaolo added one box of additional materials to the collection and revised descriptions to meet current professional standards. In 2021, Sarah Jones updated the finding aid to include digital files created through a vendor request to digitize audiovisual material. In 2022, Tammi Kim accessioned the 2021 and 2022 additions and updated the finding aid. In 2022, Sarah Jones added the 2022-036 addition.
