Scope and Contents Note
The Campaign for Choice Records address the 1989-1990 pro-choice campaign kept by Maggie Tracey and Candice Nichols, steering committee members of Campaign for Choice (CFC). The materials in this collection reflect the actions of organizations involved with CFC such as National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Actions League (NARAL) and Pro-Choice Advocacy (PCA), a local Nevada grassroots organization that assisted women in accessing their reproductive rights at clinics. Records include material on the campaign structure, finances, steering committee, minutes, campaign literature, correspondence, campaign buttons and stickers, mailing lists, clippings, two video tapes, and one audio tape.

Biographical / Historical Note
In 1989, Campaign for Choice was organized in Reno, Nevada to ensure passage of Question 7 on the November 6, 1990 ballot following a 1989 Supreme Court Decision, Webster v. Reproductive Health Services. The Webster case upheld a Missouri state ban on the use of state funding of abortion. Question 7 affirmed an existing statute, NRS 442.250, which permits a woman to have an abortion performed by a physician within 24 weeks after the commencement of the pregnancy. The ballot measure passed 200,645 to 115,495 and thus codified Roe v. Wade in the state of Nevada.
