Abstract
The Nevada Division of State Parks Photograph Collection (approximately 1910-1940) contains black-and-white photographic prints and some corresponding negatives that depict state parks and recreational areas throughout southern Nevada. The images also portray Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Logandale, the Valley of Fire, and Mount Charleston as well as images of actors filming on location in southern Nevada.

Biographical / Historical Note
The Nevada State Park System formed in 1935 and works to protect and manage Nevada's state parks. In 1963, the Nevada State Legislature voted to create the Nevada Division of State Parks under the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The division's self-proclaimed objectives are to plan, develop, and maintain a system of parks and recreation areas for the use and enjoyment of residents and visitors. They also work to preserve areas of scenic, historic and scientific significance in Nevada.

Acquisition Note
Materials were received by the Nevada Division of State Parks periodically between 1975 to 1982; accession numbers T-23, 1977-213, 1979-79, 1980-109, 1981-113, and 1982-5. Ownership of the materials remains with the Nevada Division of State Parks.
Processing Note
Materials were processed by Special Collections staff. In 2016, as part of a legacy finding aid conversion project, Maryse Lundering-Timpano wrote the collection description in compliance with current professional standards. Some of the items described in this collection were removed and relocated in the Kiel Family Photographs (MS-00838). In 2020, James Howard removed some of the items and relocated them to the Pueblo Grande de Nevada Photograph Collection (PH-00143). He enhanced the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
