The Lamar and Patricia Marchese papers (1959-2015) contain awards, correspondence (both professional and personal), a Clark County Services and Facilities Directory, newspaper and magazine clippings, pamphlets, Parks and Recreation information, KNPR events and newsletters, art exhibits brochures, and musical performances brochures. The collection chronicles the contributions of the long-time Las Vegas community leaders through photographs, speeches, an interview done with Lamar Marchese, professional papers, audiovisual materials, Las Vegas Centennial Board (LVCB) end of year report, and a LVCB book.

The Lamar and Patricia Marchese papers (1959-2015) contain awards and commendations, a Clark County Services and Facilities Directory, correspondence (both professional and personal), newspaper and magazine clippings, pamphlets, Clark County Parks and Recreation information, KNPR events and newsletters, art exhibits brochures, and musical performances brochures. The collection also chronicles the contributions of the long-time Las Vegas community leaders through photographs, speeches from both Patricia and Lamar, an interview done with Lamar Marchese, Patricia's professional papers, audiovisual materials, Las Vegas Centennial Board (LVCB) end of year report, and a LVCB book. There is also memorabilia from their high school and college in Florida.

Biographical / Historical Note
Founder of Nevada Public Radio, Lamar Marchese was born on December 11, 1943, in Tampa, Florida. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and his master's degree in Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, Gainesville. He moved to Las Vegas in 1972 with his wife Patricia to work for the Clark County Library District as program coordinator.
Noticing the lack of a public radio station in Las Vegas, Lamar, his wife, and others incorporated the Nevada Public Radio Corporation in 1975 and began working to put a public station on the air in southern Nevada. In 1979, Lamar transitioned from a voluntary Chairman of the Board to the paid position of General Manager. KNPR 89.5 FM signed on March for the first time on March 24, 1980.
In addition to running KNPR, Lamar has been active in regional and national public broadcasting affairs and is the past Chairman of the Clark County Cable TV Advisory Board, a past member of the City of Las Vegas Historic Preservation Commission, and founding member of the Las Vegas Blues Society. He is a recipient of the Governor’s Arts Award, was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, a Board member of the Las Vegas Art Museum, a member of the Las Vegas Rotary, and a member of the Community Advisory Board of the Las Vegas Academy.

Former Director of Clark County Parks and Recreation, Patricia "Pat" Marchese was born on July 12, 1943, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and completed a study in Arts Administration through a National Endowment for the Arts Scholarship at Harvard University. She and her husband Lamar moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1972 where she received her master's in Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
In 1973, Pat was hired as the Branch Administrator for the Cultural and Community Affairs for the City of Las Vegas and in 1981 she moved to the position of Senior Budget Analyst for Clark County, Nevada. Pat was appointed Director of Parks and Community Services for Clark County in 2001 and oversaw the creation of the first municipal Arts Division for the City of Las Vegas. She also worked as a legislative lobbyist for Clark County and in 2003 was named to the board of the National Association of County Parks and Recreation Officials (NACPRO). Patricia Marchese was named by the Las Vegas Review-Journal as one of "The First 100: Portraits of Men and Women Who Shaped Las Vegas."
