Materials include Silver Strings: Nevada Poetry Society Anthology, a collection of poems commemorating Nevada's centennial year, individual poems from members, financial records, correspondence, and newsletters.

Biographical / Historical Note
The Nevada Poetry Society was one of the ten charter-members of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. The purpose of the societies was "exclusively educational and literary." Nevada's chapter was organized in 1961. By the late 1960s and early 1970s, activity of the society had waned. According to an article in the Reno Gazette-Journal, the society was reorganized by Sister Margaret McCarran in 1976. The Nevada Poetry Society is still in operation as of 2018.

Materials were donated in 1989; accession numbers T-89 and 1990-007.
Processing Note
Materials were processed by Annie Sattler. In 2015, as part of a legacy finding aid conversion project, Kayla McDuffie created the finding aid and entered the data into ArchivesSpace. In 2018, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Sarah Jones revised and enhanced the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards.
