Stapleton International Airport, 11 July 1988, 1530 to 1640 Mountain Daylight Time. This time lapse video, produced from 16 mm movie film, displays the formation of a very intense microburst located near 2 mile final to runways 26L/26R at Stapleton. The principal microburst time was from approximately 1602 to 1620 MDT (time can be seen on the clock visible in picture). The time lapse interval is 10 seconds per frame, except for a film change period that brackets several minutes either side of 1600. This sequence was recorded by James Wilson of NCAR in conjunction with the FAA Terminal Doppler Weather Radar Operational Demo. There is also a short clip of a North Wichita downburst, 13 June 1987 (0:41-2:05), followed by another Denver microburst, 9 August 1988 (2:07-3:11). The video has no sound.
