Show moreThis project investigated whether a quantitative detection could be made of a variable star, in our case CY Aquarii shown in Figure 1, and whether the period could be confirmed by the existing literature. Variable stars are either intrinsic or extrinsic. CY Aqr is an intrinsic variable star since it varies due to pulsation. There are different types of variable stars and they are classified according to their period. The star observed in this project is a high-amplitude δ-scuti type subclass SX Phoenicis (McNamara et al. 1996) star. Show less
