Show moreThe Abel inversion is the most frequently used method to retrieve the electron density from radio occultation measurements. From either modeling or real data evaluation, the error distribution is determined. It can result in the pseudo plasma cave, the E layer three peaks along the latitude, the out of phase wave number 4 structure in the E and F1 layer with that of the F layer, and etc. The data assimilation retrieval method is proposed and evaluated. It is found the data assimilation method can decrease the retrieval error and eliminate some pseudo features. Show less
