Isaac Griffith, the son of Welsh immigrant Abraham Griffith, lived in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and had nine children. His daughter Hannah married Moses Dillon, a surveyor. The Dillon family later moved to Zanesville, Ohio, where Moses established a furnace and iron foundry along the Licking River. The couple had at least one son, John, who lived with his wife Edith and their children in Baltimore, Maryland, in the 1810s. By 1856, John Dillon was living in Zanesville. Martha Griffith, John Dillon's aunt, married William Tudor, and Mary Dillon, John's sister, married Mordecai Price.

From the guide to the John Dillon letter book, Dillon, John letter book, 1808-1863, 1808-1811, 1857-1863, (William L. Clements Library, University of Michigan)
