Dudley Buck was an American organist and composer. Born in Connecticut and educated at Trinity College in Hartford, he was a musical prodigy, and studied in Leipzig, Dresden, and Paris. He held posts as organist in Hartford, Chicago, Boston, and New York, where he was assistant conductor of the Theodore Thomas Orchestra. He also wrote a large amount of church music, some of which remains popular, and several secular cantatas.
