Wight Massey (1703-1761), a Philadelphia merchant, was in partnership with his son Samuel Massey (1734-1793) by 1756. Samuel Massey had begun his business career in the store of Jonathan Mifflin in Philadelphia in 1751. Benjamin Mifflin (1718-1787), also a Philadelphia merchant, and later of Sussex County, Del., formed a partnership with Samuel Massey in 1760 under the name of Mifflin & Massey.
