Aldous, Allan, 1911-2000

Author, playwright & lecturer, Aldous spent his early years in Perth, W.A., before going to London in 1935. In World War II, he enlisted with the A.I.F. in London, later serving in the Army Education Service in New Guinea & the Solomon Islands, & continued his work in adult education after the war. He was a writer of children's fiction, his best known novels being the McGowan series of 5 novels beginning with "McGowan climbs a mountain" (1945). As a playwright he wrote many radio plays, especially for Radio Australia.

Allan Aldous was born in Perth and went to England in 1935; he is the author of plays and stories, notably a series McGowan adventure stories for boys and Bushfire (1967). He served in the 2nd AIF.
