Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Dept. of Education.
The education department is involved in the planning and implementation of adult lectures, performances, tours and courses. Lecture series include the John A. Beck Memorial Lecture, inaugurated April 20, 1975; the Shartle Symposium, an annual symposium established in 1975 in memory of Ruth K Shartle, longtime museum benefactor; The Virginia and Ira Jackson lecture, endowed in 1998 and devoted to the subject of prints and drawings; the annual Houston Antiques Dealers Association (HADA) lectures produced in collaboration with the MFAH; The Eleanor and Frank Freed biennial lecture, established in 1996; an annual lecture on Asian Art cosponsored with the Asia Society of Texas since 1994; and the Five-A annual lecture, inaugurated by the African American Art Advisory Association (Five-A) in 1998.
