Continuing Committee on Greater Unity.
Hide Profile
The Continuing Committee on Greater Unity was formed in 1958 including representatives of Wilmington Yearly Meeting, Ohio Yearly Meeting (Conservative), and the Lake Erie Association of Friends. Its main concerns were the promotion of greater unity between its constituents and cooperation concerning the Lake Erie Association of Friends (LEAF) interest in establishing a yearly meeting affiliation. In 1962, it was the sense of the committee that the LEAF should become Lake Erie Yearly Meeting and affiliate itself with Friends General Conference. The Committee worked to promote greater understanding between the different branches of Quakerism in the area, including the tri-annual issuance of a calendar of Quaker events in the area, large retreats, more inclusive Young Friends activities, and regular intervisitation by committee members.
