The Eye Institute at the Dartmouth Medical School was established as a research center for the study of the physiological optics, diseases and anomalies of the eye, and related clinical work. Its most important contributions to ophthalmology were the discovery of Aniseikonia and the development of methods of diagnosis and correction for this disorder. Research at the Institute was terminated on July 1, 1947, because of a lack of funding.
