Rev. John Q. Adams, born in Philadelphia, was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1849. Over the next three decades he had charge of congregations in Blooomfield and Keyport, New Jersey, and of the North, Antioch, and Cannon Street Baptist churches in New York City. He was the author of several books, including Baptists, the Only Thorough Religious Reformers (1876).
