Colby, Ira, 1831-1908
Ira Colby was born in Claremont, New Hampshire on Jan. 11, 1831, the son of a successful farmer. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1857, read law at a N.H. law firm, and was admitted to the N.H. bar in 1860. His law firm was among the most prominent in New Hampshire during the late 1800s. He served as a representative for many years in the New Hampshire legislature.
