Lawrence J. Kane graduated from Brandeis University in 1957. He served in several positions at Brandeis University including Director of Public Affairs, Director of Alumni Relations and Assistant to President Abram Sachar. He was also active the Waltham, Massachusetts community and served on many boards and committees. He was elected Waltham's Man of the Year in 1959. Kane left Brandeis University in 1969 to become executive director of the Human Life Foundation established by Catholic bishops to make natural methods of family planning more popular among Catholic families.
