Josiah K. Lilly, Jr. was born in Indianapolis, Ind. in 1893. He joined the family buiness, Eli Lilly and Co., in 1914. In 1944, he became president of the newly formed Eli Lilly International Corporation, and in 1948, president of the Eli Lilly Company. He was an avid collector of miniature soldiers, coins, postage stamps, and firearms among other things.
