David R. Clark was born in Seymour, Conn. and educated at Wesleyan (B.A. 1947) and Yale (Ph.D. 1955). He also studied at Reed College, Indiana University and the Kenyon School of English. Clark has taught English Literature at many locales including: University of Massachusetts, Amherst (Professor of English); University College, Dublin; University of Victoria and Syracuse University. His publications are mainly (but not exclusively) centred on Irish literature, where his work has been both critical and editorial. He is a member of the editorial board of The Cornell Yeats.
