Farmer, judge of Wayne County, Mich., army officer, Lt. Col. of the River Raisin Militia, he left Detroit to found Frenchtown, later Monroe, Mich., in 1780. He married and had 12 children. Born in Detroit, Mich in 1763; bought from Indians the site of what became River Raisin, 1780; settled there with two brothers in 1783 or 1786; was one of the first grand jurors in Frenchtown (now Monroe), Sept. 2, 1805; colonel in the war of 1812, when 36 Navarres fought in his regiment; hew as in high esteem with all general; died in River Raisin, Sept. 1, 1826.
