Keith Humble was born in Geelong in 1927. A child prodigy, he won a music scholarship to study overseas. Humble studied and lived in London and Paris, returning to Australia in 1966. He lectured at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium, was the Foundation Professor of Music at La Trobe University and a visiting Professor at the University of California, San Diego. During this time, he was also composing, performing and conducting music in Australia and overseas. Humble founded and played in a number of contemporary and creative musical performance groups.
