Dr. Irving S. Cutter (1875-1945) was the dean of the Medical School at Northwestern University from 1925 to 1941. Dr. Cutter was also an author and book collector and was interested in a variety of topics including Western and Native American History.

Physician and author.

Born in New Hampshire in 1875, Cutter obtained undergraduate (1898) and medical (1910) degrees from the University of Nebraska. He was employed there as a scientist and administrator (dean of the medical school, 1915-1925) until his appointment in 1925 as dean of Northwestern University's medical school. Cutter wrote extensively on medical subjects, including those of a historical nature.
