Teacher at Northwestern High School in Detroit, MI and Professor of English at Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, MI). Founder of Lotus Press (Detroit, 1972), publisher of notable African-American poets, whose publications were distributed by Michigan State University Press, 1993-1998.
