Carl Robert Rudolf (c.1884 1974) was a distinguished and well-known collector of Old Master drawings. Stimulated by his mother, he originally collected books and engravings before moving on to drawings. By 1962 he had acquired 1,000 carefully chosen Old Masters. By profession Rudolf was a dental surgeon, practising at Margate, Seaford and the West End of London. He had a long association with the Hunterian Society. He was invited to become a fellow in 1929 and thereafter became honorary curator of the library.
