Dr Ross was a missionary in Russia 1818-1825. Prior to arriving in Sydney in 1841 he was minister at the Baxter Memorial Chappel in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England. Robert Ross was the first Minister of the Pitt Street Independent Chapel 1846 -1858.

Congregational minister. Born 1792 at Leith, Scotland. Appointed as minister of the Pitt Street Congregational Church, Sydney in 1840 as agent to both the Colonial and London Missionary Societies. Died 1862 at Sydney.
