Kingman Brewster was born in Longmeadow, Massachusetts on June 17, 1919. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale in 1941 and his law degree from Harvard in 1948. Brewster taught law at Harvard from 1949-1960. He served as provost of Yale from 1961-1963 and was president of Yale from 1963-1977. Brewster was U.S. ambassador to Great Britain from 1977-1981. Kingman Brewster died on November 8, 1988.
