Dignity (San Francisco)
The Dignity group in Southern California began in 1969-1970. San Diego and Los Angeles were the starting cities. By 1972-1973 there was a Dignity/Bay Area chapter in-formation. The growth of the membership made it necessary to localize the groups pastoral care. In 1983 Dignity/Bay Area became Dignity/San Francisco. East Bay and South Bay chapters grew out in their communities around this time, fostered by Dignity/Bay Area members. Dignity chapters of the Greater Bay Area are currently members of Dignity/USA Inc.
