Edna Dean Proctor was a 19th century American poet and short story writer. She was born in New Hampshire and lived in Framingham, Mass., and wrote patriotic verse and inspirational poetry, often on themes of social change.

Poet Edna Dean Proctor was born in Henniker, New Hampshire, but spent much of her adult life in Brooklyn, New York. Many of her poems reflect her interest in American history and her experiences travelling in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, Mexico, and the United States.
