Daniel Prescott Wheeler (1810-1888) was a merchant and town officer in Orford, New Hampshire for many years. He served as postmaster in the town from 1841 to 1853, represented Orford in the General Court in Concord, served as banking commissioner for the state from 1858 to 1861, and was the executor and trustee of a series of local estates. Alexander Strong Wheeler (1820-1907), half brother of Daniel Prescott Wheeler, was a member of the Dartmouth College Class of 1840. He read law in Boston, Massachusetts, and became a successful attorney in that city. Alexander Wheeler served as a fund raiser for Dartmouth College and was influential as a trustee of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Charles Wheeler (1839-1896) graduated from Dartmouth College as a member of the Class of 1860. He attended Harvard Law School and read law in Worcester and Boston, Massachusetts. His legal practice in Boston, primarily estate work, continued until his death.
