Ernesto Sabato (b. June 24, 1911, Rojas, Argentina–d. April 30, 2011, Santos Lugares, Argentina) was an Argentine novelist, essayist, painter and physicist. He was an active member in the Reforma Universitaria movement, founding "Insurrexit Group" in 1933 and was sent by the Communist Party of Argentina to the International Lenin School but began doubting Communist. He obtained his PhD in physics from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in 1938 but left it behind to write and paint.
