May Irvin (1888-1979), friend of the Eisenhower family, was the wife of Effingham Townsend Irvin, a New York City stockbroker for over fifty years. In 1956, she began sending gifts to Dwight D. and Mamie Eisenhower. She gradually expanded her gift-giving to include the family of John Eisenhower, and the family of Mamie Eisenhowers sister, Mrs. G. Gordon Moore.
