Aaron Vail (1796-1878) was a career official with the U.S. Department of State. He held diplomatic posts in at the legations in London, England, and Madrid, Spain. He was married to Emilie L. Salles of France, and spent much of the later years of his life in that country.
Aaron Vail (1841-1907) was the son of Aaron and Emilie Salles Vail. Like his father, he pursued a career in diplomacy as well as international business. He was married to his second cousin, Jane Eliza Vail (1848-1934). He spent a number of years handing family business and real estate interests in Troy, New York.
