Lippincott, Charles E., 1825-1887.
A medical doctor, Lippincott spent several years in California in the 1850s, and served as captain, and ultimately colonel, of the 33rd Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. He was doorkeeper of the U. S. House of Representatives at the time he wrote this letter, and served as Illinois state auditor 1869-1877.
