Represented in this collection are William Griffith Waring, one of the founders of Farmers' High School of Pennsylvania (the precursor to Pennsylvania State University); his son William George Waring, an 1863 graduate of Pennsylvania State College who wrote on the metallurgy of zinc; and the grand-niece of William Griffith Waring, Ada (Sister Mary) Grace Waring, a research professor of chemistry at Marymount College in Salina, Kansas.
