Fred M. Warner, of Farmington, Oakland County, was born in Hickling, Nottinghamshire, England, July 21, 1865. His mother died shortly after moving to the U.S. He was adopted by Hon. P.D. Warner of Farmington. Fred Warner attended the State Agricultural College for one term before becoming a clerk in his father's store. He took over the business and successfully ran it for 20 years. In 1889, he established a large cheese factory in Farmington, which led to the establishment of other factories across the state. He represented the 12th senatorial district in the state senate from 1895-1898. He held other offices (as a Republican) before being elected as governor Nov. 8, 1904, and was re-elected in 1906. He was married to Martha M. Davis of Farmington, and they had 4 children. He died on Apr. 17, 1923.

Fred Maltby Warner was born July 21, 1854, in Hickling, Nottinghamshire, England. After coming to the United States and following the death of his mother, Warner was adopted by P.Dean Warner of Farmington in Oakland County. He attended Michigan Agricultural College for a year, then worked in his father's store. In 1889, Warner started a cheese business which eventually encompassed twelve different factories in Oakland County. He also became involved in dairy farming and banking, being a stockholder and director of the Farmington Exchange Bank.

Warner served two terms in the Michigan Senate, 1895-1898. He also served two terms as Secretary of State 1901-1905. Warner was elected governor in 1904 and re-elected in 1906 and 1908. He died April 17, 1923.
