Dr. Frederick Ernest Melsheimer was born in Hanover, Pa., in 1782. He attended local schools and earned a degree in medicine from a school in Baltimore. Melsheimer received much acclaim for his research in entomology and for his lectures on the Bible. He died in Davidsburg, Pa., on Mar. 10, 1873.
