New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company

Born 1 Feb. 1885 in Johnstown, Pa. Moved with family to Buffalo shortly after the Johnstown flood of 1889. When his parents died, he became the ward of his brother-in-law, C. George Hyde, who apprenticed him to the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad in 1902.

Railroad company formed from a consolidation of the New York Central Railroad Company with Hudson River Railroad Company in 1869. Name changed to New York Central Railroad Company on Dec. 22, 1914 as a result of consolidation with Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway and several lesser lines.
