Born as Ellas Otha Bates on December 30, 1928 in McComb, Mississippi, Bo Diddley was a musician who played a key role in the transition from the blues to rock and roll. He wrote many songs for himself and also for others. He died on June 2, 2008 in Archer, Florida.
