This Committee was instituted by A.J. Muste, who enlisted the sponsorship and membership of such peace leaders as Albert W. Palmer, Bishop William Appleton Lawrence, A. Philip Randolph, Oswald Garrison Villard, Roger N. Baldwin and Rabbi Abraham Cronbach. This Committee's primary activity was to create and administer questionnaires for members of Congress and congressional candidates on such subjects as conscription, civil liberties, labor issues, world organization membership such as the United Nations, and foreign relief aid. Its headquarters were in New York City.
