Historical note: Chartered by the International Typographical Union in 1886 as a printing pressmen's union, in 1890 the union was rechartered by the International Printing Pressmen's Union of North America as Albany Printing Pressmen's Union, No. 23.
In 1973 the international pressmen's union merged with the International Stereotypers', Electrotypers', and Platemakers' Union of North America to form the International Printing and Graphic Communications Union, which merged with the Graphic Arts International Union in 1983 to form the Graphic Communications International Union.
