Karl A. Fox, professor of economics and chair of the Economics Department, Iowa State University, 1955-1972. B.A. in English, University of Utah, 1937; M.A. in Sociology, University of Utah, 1938, Ph. D. in Economics, University of California at Berkeley, 1954. Worked with the U.S. War Food Administration, 1942 and the U.S. Bureau of Agricultural Economics, 1944-1955.

Fox has conducted innovative research in urban and regional economics, demand analysis, functional economic areas, theory of economic policy, resource allocation in non-market institutions, and social systems accounting. His economic modelling research has shaped the broader realm of social science in areas such as urban-regional interdependence and relations between agriculture and the non-farm economy.
