Wattson, Robart.

Hide Profile

During May 16-20, 1690, the English fort (Fort Loyal) and settlement at Falmouth on Casco Bay in Maine were besieged and destroyed by a force of approximately 500 French and Abenaki forces. The defending militia commanded by Capt. Davis capitulated after receiving promises that the survivors and their families would be allowed to proceed to the nearest English settlement. Instead all were either killed or taken as captives to Canada.
