Nonprofit recreational and park facility which sponsored summer concerts, dramatic productions, and dance from 1932-1938, and since 1938, a series of concerts known as Midsummer Musicals. Founded by Rosalie Meyer Stern in 1931. Stern served as organizer, director, and president of the Board of Trustees until her death in 1956. Her daughter, Elise Haas, and later, Executive Secretary Lucy Eastlund, ran the organization with the Board of Trustees until the early 1970s, when the presidency was transferred to Haas' daughter, Rhoda Goldman. Stern also served as President of the City Playground Commission, which became the Recreation Commission, 1919-1956.
