Hooker, Richard, 1878-
Variant namesJournalist; B.A., Yale, 1899; joined the staff of the Springfield Republican and was Washington correspondent from 1904 to 1911, literary editor from 1911-1915, and editor-in-chief from 1915-1922; retired in 1922 due to poor health and became president of the Republican Company which position he retained until 1932; he directed the Associated Press between 1927 and 1934.
