John Rutherfoord (1792-1866) was a lawyer, merchant, and governor of Virginia from 1841 to 1842. His son, John Coles Rutherfoord (1825-1866), was a lawyer, planter, and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Ann Seddon (Roy) Rutherfoord (1832-1906?), was the wife of John Coles Rutherfoord. Thomas Rutherfoord (1766-1852), was the father of John Rutherfoord, and a Richmond merchant.
