Historian Julien Chandler Yonge was editor of the Florida Historical Quarterly, 1925-1955, and Director of the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History, 1944-1958. He was born and educated in Pensacola, Florida. Poor health prevented completion of his college degree. He collected Florida history materials and became a leader in the Florida Historical Society. His collection was eventually donated to the University of Florida, becoming the nucleus of the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History.

Born and educated in Pensacola. Poor health prevented completion of his college degree. He collected Florida history materials and became the moving force in the Florida Historical Society. His collection was eventully donated to the University of Florida, becoming the nucleus of the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History. Among Yonge's correspondents were: Rembert Patrick, Mark Boyd, David O. True, Ruby Leach Carson, Father Jerome, T. Frederick Davis, and Webster Merritt.
